The Southern Cross is the southern counterpart of the Northern Cross, which is read in the constellation Cygnus. If Cygnus shows the Cross in the northern book of the sky, then the Southern Cross repeats the same revelation for the peoples of the Southern Hemisphere. The entire sky testifies that the path of salvation passes through the Cross of Christ.

The constellation of the Southern Cross (Crux) is the most famous constellation of the Southern Hemisphere. Despite its small size, it is one of the most recognizable celestial images and for many centuries served as the main guide for navigators.[Kunitzsch & Smart][IAU · имена звёзд]
However, in antiquity the Southern Cross did not exist as a separate constellation. Its stars were considered part of Centaurus. Only later was this group of stars set apart as an independent figure due to its remarkably regular shape.
In the prophetic picture of the sky, the Southern Cross is the southern reflection of the Northern Cross.
In the north, the Cross is read in the constellation Cygnus. Its main star Deneb, its elongated figure, and the constellation's placement form a great heavenly cross connected with the path of Christ to the atoning sacrifice.

The Southern Cross is located next to Centaurus, which depicts the incarnate Christ — true God and true Man. Centaurus strikes the Wolf — an image of sacrifice — and directly below it shines the Cross.

Bullinger noted that the ancient Semitic name for this group of stars — Uzza — means 'strength' or 'fortress'. This remarkably echoes the words of the Apostle Paul:
'The word of the cross... to us who are being saved, is the power of God.'
Thus the Cross is not a sign of defeat, but the place of God's power that conquered sin, death, and the devil.
Precession

Yet for the peoples of the Southern Hemisphere, it remained one of the most prominent constellations.
