Keel — Christ as the foundation of salvation, on which the entire Ship of God's people rests. In antiquity, the Keel, Sails, and Stern constituted one huge Heavenly Ship; modern Carina represents its hull and lower load-bearing part. If the Sails show God's people led by the wind of the Spirit, then the Keel shows that on which this people rests: 'For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.' The ship passes through the waters of judgment and reaches the harbor because its foundation is Christ.
